Projects Hub

Projects in the source OGM Wiki, excluding the embedded Jerry's Nuggets corpus (covered in Jerry's Nuggets Pointer).

Project landscape

The source Projects/All The Projects.md is itself thin — only one project listed. So this hub fills in from the actual subdirectories of Projects/.

Marley — book co-publishing infrastructure

Per Projects/Marley/Marley.md:

"Project Marley started with Pete's Original OGM Topics Proposal, which was a challenge to OGM to write an edited volume book. That's a book where each chapter is contributed by a different writer, but the chapters together work as a book."

"Our first goal is to co-write a Quick First Book, getting the basic elements in place to go from Markdown files to a published ePub or Kindle File Format book."

Named in honor of Stacey Druss's late dog Marley. The project's deliverables aspire beyond traditional books:

"Books are known cultural objects: shiny, attractive media that anyone can understand"

"Books serve as an inviting entry point to a vast array of captivating online resources, such as: live discussions, further resources, constantly updated content"

Marley invokes but doesn't define:

Quick First Book (QFB) — Marley's first deliverable

A working title for the first edited-volume book Marley produces. Candidate topics from Quick First Book/Quick First Book.md:

The food/bioregion theme dominates the QFB folder — Bioregions and Food Sample Essay.md, Quick First Book/What is a bioregion?.md, etc.

QFB folder content (10 files):

NeoBooks — Marley's recurring deliverable form

A NeoBook is the digital-first, network-rooted book artifact that Marley produces. The NeoBooks Ops folder is the most procedural area of the wiki — 12 files describing the production process.

NeoBooks Ops (12 files):

NeoBooks In Progress (per Projects/NeoBooks In Progress.md):

NeoBooks is the largest cluster of orphan gems in the wiki — six different NeoBooks pages are referenced multiple times but written sparsely.

Weaving the World — interview series quest

Per OGM Structure/OGM Quests/Weaving the World (old plan).md:

"This project will consist of an interview series show. We will interview subject matter experts as well as tool and process guests. Our aim is to discuss not only what the pressing issues of our time are, but how people are addressing them in both theory and practice."

"We will harvest/improve the content of those interviews, weaving it into multiple persistent memory streams (one of which is Jerry's Brain)."

Roles (from the project plan):

Status in the source: "Planning phase" (filename includes "old plan").

SenseDoing

Per Projects/SenseDoing/SenseDoing.md:

"OGM and partner communities want to engage in practical sensemaking. This wiki page is ground zero for that effort at this moment."

A meeting note exists at OGM Topics Ops/Meetings/SenseDoing Ops, 2023-04-03.md.

Rel8

Per Projects/Rel8 Mid-Term Goals.md:

"What entities, norms and/or movements need to exist so we can co-create a sensemaking layer that helps humans in all fields understand one another and make better decisions together?"

"Is it a foundation like the EFF or Apache Foundation? A movement like Open Source?"

A short, exploratory project page. Jerry Michalski runs office hours on Rel8.dev.

The Generative Commons (Quest)

Has a substantive Theme page. See The Generative Commons.

StoryThreaders Guild

Single-line stub at OGM Structure/OGM Guilds/StoryThreaders Guild.md. Founding members include Jerry Michalski (per his page).

Quests vs. Guilds vs. Projects

OGM's vocabulary distinguishes:

The distinction isn't fully written down anywhere in the source. It's used consistently but assumed-known.
